BIO
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area (and this
is where he currently resides), Dan Reiley has also not been afraid to leave
this cozy area to do some work in other parts of the country or world. While
serving in the U.S. Army, Dan was able to see a variety of countries and terrains
(Germany, France, Spain, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and New Jersey). This
left him with a fascination for, and appreciation of, different environments,
especially when applied to game design.
Dan has been a longtime gamer, starting out with Pong,
and continuing through the variety of home consoles (Odyssey, Atari, Commodore
64, Apple IIe, NES, Super Nintendo, Windows PCs, N64, PS1, Xbox, GameCube, PS2, Nintendo Wii, PS3,
Xbox 360---and whatever the future holds!). Dan remembers a time when he had to
input lines of code from a magazine (and improvise where needed) just to program
new games into his family's Atari 800. Computers and games have come a long
way since then, and Dan has grown along with them.
After working for several dot-coms, Dan found it necessary
to pursue his lifelong passion for making games, and enrolled in the Art Institute
of California at San Francisco. While going to school, Dan was also able to
land a QA gig at LucasArts, where he worked on Mercenaries, and Star
Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. After his contract was up at LucasArts,
Dan went to work for Eidos and mainly worked on 25 To Life. In 2006 Dan
graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Game Art and Design, and had to take an
IT job to get by. In September of 2007 Dan left the IT field (for good!) to work at Underground Development (an Activision studio) on their PS3 port of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Also while at Underground, Dan was a design tools tester and worked closely with the design team to ensure the tools remained in a usable state. Since that time, more QA gigs have come and gone, but Dan is ready to begin work on his real passion: MAKING GAMES!
